The Last Angel of History A Film by John Akomfrah

45 minutes / color
Release Date: 1997
Copyright Date: 1996

John Akomfrah, director of Seven Songs of Malcolm X, returns with an engaging and searing examination of the hitherto unexplored relationships between Pan-African culture, science fiction, intergalactic travel, and rapidly progressing computer technology.” - Icarus Films

If you have this film, or know where it can be found affordably please provide direction. On the Icarus Films website it is on sale for $298. This film should be available to the Black masses, it is being treated as a artifact itself.

This film reminds me of my SCVNGR hunts. I think it would be an interesting ARG(Alternate Reality Game) to explore. It definitely has great possibility as a Transmedia narrative. The film already builds on the foundation of music. A podcast called the Mothership Connection could be used to give encrypted messages to Afrofuturists searching for the techno fossils mentioned in the film, following the Data Thief in his quest to find answers. We would gather all the recording angels for this trip to help us find answers scattered across the African Diaspora. The music would guide an International sojourn on a virtual plane using rhythm and sound to reveal answers in the physical world.

I’m going to explore this further…If you want to explore these possibilities with me let me know. I’m open to collaborate with others.
