Everyone from business leaders to President Obama is calling for more young leaders in the areas of science, math, engineering, and technology. But many young people say they aren’t even considering careers in these fields. Why not? A recent survey asked them to explain their hesitance.
YouTube for Schools has come up with an easy way for teachers to bring educational video into the classroom without having to worry about students getting access to inappropriate content, which is why it has been blocked from use in the classrooms of most school districts across our country. This will be a relief to many teachers who are in need of new media resources to engage learners that will not cost them a penny to include into their lesson plans.
I could also see this becoming a great tool for distance learners as well. The closer we get to schools without walls the better. I am definitely going to inquire about getting this setup at Duke Ellington. I’m sure our academic teachers could use this in our school’s Media Center when giving presentations. I haven’t given it a test run yet, but I wonder if teachers will have access to annotations and YouTube.com/create with all of its third party features.
If you are using or are planning to use YouTube for Schools please share your experience with us. Once I have given it a test I will give you an update on the product. Thanks for reading. Like this kind of content? Subscribe and please share Techtasters with your network.

N2015 is the blueprint to navigate Singapores exhilarating transition into a global city, universally recognised as an enviable synthesis of technology, infrastructure, enterprise and manpower.
It is a living plan that gives every individual and endeavour seamless access to intelligent technology - and with it - the capability to take charge. - Real Vision Homes
This looks like paradise. I think by 2015 tablets will be wildly integrated into our day to day lives even replacing laptops and home computers. Right now Xfinity has an iPad app that allows you to browse, watch, and remote control your television viewing. Many people already enjoy the convenience of having all the devices in their homes networked. We will manage our central home intelligence( utilities, security, file storage) and use the tablet as a mobile communications interface( think The Jetsons).
This is a fantastic example of how augmented reality can be used in education. No longer will learning be bound to the classroom, and children will be free to engage and learn from things all around them.
